Lizard Music · Compilation

Cold Blood is an annual compilation of independant music from artists listed on LizardMusic.com. The compilation was sold at a minimal price as a promotional effort to increase visibility of Lizard Music artists.

We intend to release a new volume of Cold Blood at least every year from now on, introducing the newest additions to Lizard Music. We may do them more often if there are enough new acts and enough time to produce them well.

We are currently accept submissions for next year's Cold Blood! If you are interested in submitting a track for consideration on the next Cold Blood compilation, just follow the instructions here:

You are not required to have a studio-quality CD released yet to be considered! If you have a high-quality sound file (or can burn us a CDR with your track) we'll be happy to consider your track for inclusion in the compilation.

To be considered for the next compilation we need to receive the full-quality CDR or WAV file within a week of notification that your entry has been selected.

When is the next compilation due out?
Should I send the track now or wait until you ask?

The next compilation is due out this Fall. Do not wait to send your track! For these compilations we tend to pick out more than half the tracks we want to include in advance, and then select the other half from the submissions. If you get your CD to us in advance, you may be pre-selected.

How do we submit the songs for consideration?
Should I send you MP3s?

First, send us either an MP3 file or a link to an MP3 file for our producer's review. For inclusion on the compilation, we need to receive either

Since a full-quality .WAV file will typically be over 40 megabytes for a single song, sending a CDR is your best option. Uploading a .WAV file to ftp://www.lizardmusic.com/incoming/ is an acceptable alternative.

Note: We do not accept MP3 files for final inclusion in compilation. While they are acceptable for online listening, even the highest-quality MP3 file is not the quality people expect in a professional CD. When put onto a CD with CD-quality songs, the MP3 songs sound shallow. We will however listen to and review MP3 files while your CDR is in the mail.

Do I need to send this in addition to inventory for sale?

If you send us inventory for sale, we will use the same disc we use for audio samples to get your track for the compilation. Sending us inventory of your CD kills 3 birds with one stone:

  1. It gives us something to make audio samples from.
  2. It automatically submits your music for the compilation selection
  3. It provides us something to sell your fans when they come looking

Should I submit only a single song?

Submit any songs that you would like to see published in the compilation. If you have an entire CD of material, send us the entire CD! The more songs you send, the more likely our producer (KryptKicker) will find something to include on the compilation!
